The armature offers school and community-based residencies as part of our services to the region. Residencies are supported financially through a grant from the PCA to the armature. Schools and agencies are required to pay a portion of the artist fees and are responsible for materials fees. Residencies are a minimum of 20 days and can be extended for an entire year or longer. The Armature provides consulting to establish the residency programs.
Artists create works of art with groups of either students or participants. School-based residencies are aligned with the PA academic standards and can be integrated into academic content areas and subjects.
If your school or agency is interested in scheduling an artist in residence program, please call Liz Faist at
570-876-9253 or email her at

The armature conducts professional development for educators, community arts education directors and artists. Teachers receive Act 48 hours for participation in professional training. Additionally, artists are offered ongoing training in such aspects of education as planning, instruction and assessment of residencies.
